Sensory Activity Set
A huge set of resources that lend themselves to being enjoyed by adults who find repetitive non-goal orientated activities calming and soothing. Most can be used instinctively with 3D shapes, contrasting textures to be stacked, matched, manipulated and sorted and having neutral age-appropriate colours and even sound! More information below.
The following support documents are available:
A 70 piece set of beautifully shaped objects that are enjoyable to handle in neutral age-appropriate colours. There are different shapes and surfaces textures included and six of the resources have surprise sounds.
Although these are non-goal orientated 3D shapes that can be used without a structured activity aim, there are opportunities to thread beads, or to stack, match and/or sort items into categories (A wooden sorting tray is included). Creative care providers will recognise the opportunities to use these versatile objects into different contexts.
For example, some are ideal for multi-sensory engagement - such as pressing into sand, dough or other materials. This set has been purposefully chosen to provide stimulation for those who have cognitive impairment, at the level of enjoying and engaging with very simple activities. Each of the sets was developed for early learning and play so these are safe to use with vulnerable adults, but obviously use should still be supervised at all times.
The set has small parts and lacing cords which could pose a choking risk. Contents:
