Specific oral motor movements and sequences are practiced and repeated, developing self-awareness whilst simultaneously strengthening tongue, lip and cheek muscles. All components, games and card packs are extremely versatile. Oral-motor activity cards are numbered and linked to specific exercises to vary use. Easily and quickly graded to ability level or client need.
Incorporates blowing activities to practice directing and controlling breath flow. Sucking games help develop lip closure, elevation of the front and sides of the tongue to create a groove and improve the speech sounds "s" and "sh" also useful for strengthening oral-facial muscles of children who breathe through their mouth rather than the nose, or who push the tongue forward against incisors when swallowing. Note: sucking exercises are unsuitable for those who speak on an in-breath.
